Why Quality Lenses Matter: What You Should Know Before Buying Eyeglasses

When choosing glasses, the frame often gets all the attention. We look at the shape, colour, brand and how it complements our face.

But whether you're buying prescription glasses or sunglasses, the quality of the lenses matters just as much.

It’s Not Just About the Frame

For prescription glasses, your lenses need to match your prescription correctly. They also need to be positioned properly in front of your eyes.

If the lenses are not made or fitted correctly, they can cause blurred vision, headaches, eye strain or discomfort.

With sunglasses, lens quality matters too. Good sunglasses should provide proper UV protection and clear vision. A very dark lens does not necessarily mean better UV protection.

Be Careful When Buying Unverified Eyewear

When buying eyewear from an unverified source, you may not know if the lenses have been made to the right standards.

A pair of glasses may look great, but you should also know:

  • Is the prescription correct?

  • Are the lenses clear and free from unwanted distortion?

  • Do the sunglasses provide proper UV protection?

  • Are the lenses and frame fitted correctly?

  • Are the materials and coatings suitable for your needs?

These are things that may not be obvious just by looking at a pair of glasses.

Choose Your Lenses Carefully

Your glasses are something you use every day, so choosing them should be about more than just appearance or price.

The right frame completes the look. The right lenses make the eyewear work for you.

At Supreme Optique, we believe good eyewear brings together quality, comfort, clear vision and style—whether you're choosing prescription glasses or sunglasses.
